Culture Monks is very glad to be initiating a project called Nirbhoy (fearless) , in Dhosa, South 24 pgns, West Bengal, with support from the Embassy of Israel in India & DCBS.
Under this project we will be helping a community of women who live in Dhosa, South 24 pgns, WB, to set up indigenous poultry farming. In order to do this we are giving them indigenous chicks and a cash grant. We will also support them with marketing the produce in due course of time.
We look forward to co -creating with the community particularly with storytelling and theatrical performances. We are in the process of starting a football academy for girls.
Hence, through these interventions we hope that greater resilience will be build in this community of women , helping them in a small way in their journey towards ensuring a better life for themselves and their families. This is particularly important for the women living in Dhosa, as this area has borne the brunt of Cyclone Amphan in addition to the loss of livelihood and economic distress accentuated by the restrictions due to COVID.
This project is part of Culture Monks & MasterPeace program called “Performing the Freedom of Independence”, which is about personal & social transformation through co – inquiry and reflective action.
