Take a memorable day trip with us for recreation, enrichment and fun !!

Guptipara is a sweet wonder, it really is !!

It’s a beautiful idyllic village, still quite heavily wooded, in the midst for which stand a lovely fortified temple complex, from where the rath starts rolling suddenly bringing the village to life with its fair and merriment. There is a lot more to this village, the long stretch of river bank , still so green lined with brick kilns, where you can still spot the steamer which ferries goods from Kolkata. The sun temple is a delight with idols of the sun god himself riding the chariot of seven horses, here you find the mini idols of the many avatars of Kali. A Durga Mandir with an idol of the goddess made of eight metals. Of course the spot where the first barowari (community puja) in Bengal started, and much more.

It is quite an amazing spot for photographers too.

Guptipara is the home of Bengal’s first community (barowari) Durga puja, the place where first branded Bengali sweets were made – from makha sandesh (sandesh mixture) to gupo sandesh (a variety of sandesh pieces), and the birth place of legendary folk singer Bhola Moira & beautiful terracotta temples & a fascinating palace.

Ratha-Yatra is Guptipara’s greatest festival. The Guptipara ratha, one of the tallest and one of the oldest in West Bengal (started in the time of Raja Krishnachandra), is said to cover the second longest distance in India.
