Workshop Synopsis
This intense workshop is designed to give participants a comprehensive idea on basics of Tabla – ranging from understanding of instrument, position and postures to effective techniques of regular Riyaz along with tips and twists of becoming a successful stage performer. There will be specific compositions that Sri Patra will be demonstrating is the outcome of his prolonged research and varied learning.
However, the second half of the workshop is the classical musical treat by a bunch of uprising vocalist and instrumentalists of Kolkata.The participants will be given this opportunity to experience tabla accompaniment through demonstration.
About Shankar Patra
The accomplished disciple of Sri Kanai Dutta, Adhir karmakar was Shankar’s first teacher. Now he is taking lessons from of Pt. Anindya Chatterjee. Being an Artist and Teacher with more than two decades of experience on Stage performance, with a bouquet of varied accomplishments he runs his music school Sarthak, being examiner of all musical and instrumental discipline, with an inclination and expertise in Sustainable living. Possess a natural ability of teaching and communicating with pupils of all ages, with perfect blend of sophistication and assertive demeanor. Sri Patra is a Badya Ratna in Tabla from Sarbabharatiya-Sangeet-o-Sanskriti Parishad & Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samity.
