In April, in full lockdown, Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione and the Pippo Delbono Company took part in a digital festival created by Emilia Romagna Region with the local cultural bodies, making them available for viewing free films of some shows of the Company’s repertoire subtitled in many languages.
This initiative was born out of the desire to remain close to the public following the cancellation of numerous national and international tours and the fact that Pippo Delbono has given up the copyright for such diffusion. The idea of developing a subtitling project in multilingual was born with “This fierce darkness”, “After the battle”, “Orchids” and “Gospel” streaming free on the Vimeo channel of Emilia Romagna Theater for which the Pippo Delbono Company hasedited the 44 texts for subtitling in 11 languages:
Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Dutch, Slovenian, Polish and Romanian.
The project was well covered and appreciated by the Italian and international press, with 23 reports, including the New York Times that wanted to highlight it as a relevant action during the lockdown together with a few other European projects of international relevance.
